On 16 May 2005, Tanay had played host to the foreign delegates of the 10th Living Lakes Conference.  Crossing the Laguna de Bay by boat from Calamba, the guests had the chance to meet the people of Tanay and later had a meeting at Patricio Jarin Memorial School with the Federation of River Basin Councils of the Laguna de Bay Region which is headed by Mrs. Lina Tanjuatco.

Tanay will be 400 years old in 2006.  The one-year celebration in 2006, dubbed as Kasaysayang Tanay 1606-2006, was launched on 27 November 2004. 

The Tanay Club in America celebrated its 80th Anniversary last 23 October 2004 at Oakland Hilton Hotel in Oakland, California.  Mayor Tom was the guest of honor of the event which was attended by more than 200 Tanayans in California.

Tanay bagged the first place in the 2005 Regional Literacy Search for Most Outstanding Local Government Unit (Level A).  Awarded for its various projects for the Alternative Learning System such as the Basic Literacy Program implemented at Barangay San Andres and Barangay Mamuyao that aimed to help IP communities learn to read and write; and the Family Basic Literacy Project in Barangay Sampaloc.  The competition was a program of the National Literacy Coordinating Council (NLCC) and the Department of Education.
